Mekelle University Multimedia Studio Inauguration and Digital Content Development Workshop
The Mekelle University workshop themed “Bringing Multimedia Studio into Action” aimed at activating multimedia studios and developing digital courses held in the presence of Ministry of Education officials, the Mastercard Foundation representatives, and invited academic Vice Presidents from 11 universities along with their e-learning team.
The session began with a welcoming remark from Dr. Fana Hagos, President of Mekelle University. Following this Dr. Zelalem Assefa, CEO for ICT and Digital Education at the Ministry of Education, delivered an opening remark, outlining the Ministry’s strategic direction for digital course development and the effective utilization of existing resources.
The discussions centered on how universities can initiate digital course development, highlighting key models, approaches, and steps. The global trajectory of digital content development and best practices were also explored to establish a solid foundation for the next phases of course development.
The workshop included the inauguration of the Mekelle University Multimedia Studio, with all attendees visiting the facility. As the official launch of the studio and digital course development initiative, the workshop set the stage for the next steps by developing action plans for the launch of full online and blended program and courses at the multimedia host universities and their respective cluster member universities.
The e-Learning for Strengthening Higher Education (e-SHE) is a multistakeholder initiative owned by the MoE, intended to boost the relevance, quality, access, and resilience of higher education in Ethiopia.
