e-SHE was recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation for its contribution to advancing digital education and transforming higher education across Ethiopia’s 50 public universities. The recognition was presented at the STRIDE 2.0 Ethiopia National Science, Technology and Innovation Summit, organized by Ministry of Innovation And Technology- Ethiopia, held at the Science Museum. The summit marks 50 years of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in Ethiopia, celebrating achievements over the past five decades while looking ahead to the country’s innovation, technology, and digital transformation agenda.

For e-SHE, this national recognition is particularly meaningful. It acknowledges the collective efforts to expand access to digital learning, strengthen local digital content, and build institutional capacity across Ethiopia’s higher education system. More importantly, the recognition reflects the shared work of the Ministry of Education — Ethiopia, Mastercard Foundation, Arizona State University, Shayashone, and the 50 public universities, as well as the many teams and individuals who have contributed to making digital learning more accessible and sustainable.

The recognition also reinforces three important priorities for us:

  • Strengthening institutional capacity and embedding digital learning practices within universities.
  • Contributing to Ethiopia’s digital transformation and creating opportunities for continued collaboration, partnerships, and support.
  • Sustaining impact beyond the program by ensuring that the progress made translates into lasting institutional practices and meaningful benefits for learners.

This recognition is not just a celebration of what has been achieved; it is a reminder of the responsibility to sustain, deepen, and scale the impact of digital education across Ethiopia.
